JJ Pearce grad Drew Timme agreed to a 2-year deal with the Brooklyn Nets on Thursday after a successful stint in the G-League – which was first reported by Michael Scotto.
According to Scotto, the call-up to the NBA is coming after Timme was named G-League Player Of The Week with Brooklyn affiliate, the Long Island Nets. Timme scored 50 points in 43 minutes on Saturday March 22. He shot 21 of 26 with nine rebounds. On Wednesday, Timme scored 14 points with seven boards. From March 1 to March 22 (9 games), Timme had point totals of 22, 31, 27, 40, 21, 28, 27, 30 and 50.
In 29 games this season, Timme made 28 starts and averaged 24 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists per game on 57% shooting. He made three starts and appeared in 12 games last season with the Wisconsin Herd (Milwaukee Bucks), where he averaged 9 points, 6 rebounds and 2 assists. After going undrafted in 2023, Timme joined the Bucks for the NBA Summer League. He signed on Oct. 2, 2023 but was waived two weeks later. He went to Wisconsin, but had season ending surgery on Feb. 1, 2024 for a left foot fracture.
He signed with the Sacramento Kings on Oct. 18, 2024, but was waived that day before joining the Stockton Kings. Then he was traded on Dec. 30 to the Long Island Nets.
Timme is regarded as one of the best college basketball players of all time during his 4-year career at Gonzaga. Timme was a 1st team All-American, 2x 2nd team All-American, 3x 1st team All-Conference and 2x Conference Player Of The Year. He had career averages of 17 points, 6.7 rebounds and 2.4 assists on 61.8% in 134 total games and 105 starts. After seeing only four starts where he averaged 9.8 points as a freshman, Timme skyrocketed his final three years – averaging 19, 18.4 and 21.2 points per game. As a senior, he also shot 61.6% and had 7.5 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game.
As a senior, Gonzaga went 31-6 and lost in the Elite Eight to UConn.
As a junior, Gonzaga went 28-4, but lost to Arkansas in the Sweet Sixteen. As a sophomore, Gonzaga entered the NCAA tournament without a loss and was the No. 1 seed in the West Region. They finished 31-1 after losing to Baylor in the title game.
For the Brooklyn Nets, they sit at 23-50 on the season (13th in the Eastern Conference). Their upcoming schedules include the LA Clippers and Washington Wizards before coming to Dallas on Monday March 31 – which will be a homecoming for the Timme family.
Timme was a 5-star recruit at Pearce and the 41st ranked player in the 2019 class. During his senior season, he was nominated for the McDonald’s All-American game and was District MVP. He finished his career with 17.8 points, 10 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game.
