Just a month after leading Southlake Carroll to the Class 6A D2 championship game at AT&T Stadium, 3-star 2026 quarterback Angleo Renda committed to the University of Pitt on Wednesday.
In his first season as the starting QB, Renda led the Dragons to their first championship appearance since Quinn Ewers during the 2020 season.
The title came up short in a loss against Austin Vandegrift 24-17.
In that game, Renda finished with 351 yards (second most of the season) on 27 of 38 passing and two touchdowns. He also rushed seven times for 23 yards.
In 16 games, Renda completed 71.4% of his passes (among the highest in DFW) for 3,901 yards and 40 TDs. He rushed for 667 yards and 14 touchdowns.
During the first four playoff games, Renda scored eight TDs on the ground and threw for nine more through the air against Mansfield Legacy, Wolfforth Frenship, Hebron and Denton Guyer.
He was voted 4-6A MVP.
In limited action last season behind Graham Knowles (now at Georgia Tech), Renda accounted for 976 yards and 12 TDs.
