It was evident in the spring that the Texas Longhorns was the right place for Melissa 2025 infielder Caigan Crabtree. During the state tournament at Austin’s McCombs Field, Crabtree went off in the two games helping the Cardinals win their first state championship.

In the semifinal round – a 4-0 win over Lake Belton – the star shortstop went 3 for 3 and hit two RBI doubles while adding two put outs on defense with three assists. In her first official game at her future home, Crabtree fit right in.

But she took it to the next level during the 5A champ final – an 8-0 blowout win over Harlingen South. Crabtree hit NOT ONE BUT TWO HOME RUNS over the left field wall and drove in four RBIs.

For her performance that week, it was an easy choice to vote Crabtree as 5A state champ MVP. Crabtree would go on to be named Co MVP in13-5A as well as GM Sports Media All Area MVP along with other accolades.

On Wednesday, Crabtree would solidify her UT commitment by signing her letter of intent with the Horns. She was one of seven players to sign with Texas on Wednesday, including North Forney’s Drea Wilson.

Said UT coach Mike White, “Caigan Crabtree is another multi sport star from Melissa, who is ranked the third best infielder by a national publication. She’s capable of playing all the infield positions and her home run power is remindful of Reese Atwood.”

The Cards went 38-2-1 last seaosn.

Crabtree finished hitting 0.545 with 21 home runs – second most in DFW, 66 hits, 20 doubles, 57 runs, 66 RBIs and 20 steals.
