Entering Tuesday night, there were two undefeated teams in District 3-6A – Boswell and Mansfield Lake Ridge, who both were 4-0. By the end of the day, neither team remained perfect after Weatherford and Mansfield Legacy picked up surprising wins.
Weatherford pulled away in the opening set and then finished off Boswell, 26-24, 19-25, 25-19, 25-21 on home court. The win pushed the Kangaroos to a 3-2 mark in district play while Boswell dropped to 4-1.
The Roos have dropped matches against Legacy (3-2) and Lake Ridge (3-0) while beating Boswell, North Crowley (3-2) and Crowley (3-0). They finish out the week at Mansfield on Friday.
Meanwhile, Legacy pulled off the bigger upset win as the Broncos beat area ranked Lake Ridge in five, with a reverse sweep 27-29, 23-25, 27-25, 26-24, 15-11. They also celebrated head coach Amanda Shingleton, who recently won her 400th career game.
Lake Ridge entered the week #8 in the GM Sports Class 6A DFW rankings.
The Eagles dropped to 4-1 in district while Legacy improved to 4-2. The Broncos have won three in row with wins over Mansfield (3-1) and Crowley (3-0). They also beat Weatherford, but lost to Boswell (3-1) and North Crowley (3-2).
Legacy is off on Friday before beginning the second round of district against North Crowley next Tuesday.
