Alvarado’s big first half fuels win over Ranchview, 6-0 start

Alvarado scored 41 points before halftime as the Indians rolled past Carrollton Ranchview 48-14 on Thursday night at Standridge Stadium. The Indians, ranked #3 in the 4A D1 state rankings, got 26 first downs compared to 16 for Ranchview.

QB Cardea Collier, who recently was named 4A Texas player of the week, continued his impressive season with 242 yards on 22 of 28 passing and five touchdowns, with 38 yards rushing and one touchdown.

Running back Demarcus Belton led all rushers with 19 carries for 171 yards and one touchdown.

Seven different players for Alvarado made a reception – led by Lance Sansom’s three touchdown catches along with 54 yards on seven grabs. Hunter Byerley made four catches for 88 yards and one touchdown.

Belton added 60 yards on five catches with one touchdown.

Clampitt led the Indians on defense with nine tackles. Sansom shined on D also with four tackles, one interception, four deflections, two fumble recoveries and 100 return yards. Alvarado made two sacks and forced two interceptions and three fumbles.

Alvarado led 20-7 after the first quarter and 41-7 at halftime.

It was the District 6-4A D1 opener for both teams. Ranchview dropped to 3-3 overall.

The Indians will face Lake Worth at home in Week 8.

Collier has over 2,400 yards of total offense with 18 TD passes and 19 TD rushes.

It’s Alvarado’s first 6-0 start since 2011.
