KELLER— The nation’s longest district winning streak was extended by yet another game on Thursday night when the Aledo Bearcats went to Keller to take on the Fossil Ridge Panthers. It was utter domination from start to finish with Aledo coming away with its 122nd consecutive district win by a score of 63-3.
The first three possessions of the game could not have gone any better for the Bearcats as they scored three times on just eight plays, and did not allow a Fossil Ridge first down. After the first defensive stop, Gavin Beard hit Kaydon Finley on a screen pass. Finley turned up field and went 36 yards for the score.
Beard and Finley were unstoppable as a duo in the game. Beard ended the game with 198 yards on seven completions and four touchdowns. Finley accounted for four of those completions for 141 yards and three touchdowns.
Next, it was running back Raycine Guillory who led the charge on a four play, 43-yard drive that he capped off with a 10-yard rush for the score. Brady Powell then scored from one yard out to give Aledo a 21-0 lead at the end of the first quarter.
Two plays into the second quarter, Breck Moore scored the only points for the Panthers with a 40-yard field goal to make it 21-3. However, Adrian Fuller returned the favor by taking the ensuing kickoff 82-yard to keep the Bearcats on the throttle.
Later in the second quarter, Beard added to his tally with a 30-yard pass to Finley, and a 45-yard pass to Jamal Hollister to bring the halftime score to 42-3.
The domination continued in the second half. Just three plays in, Beard and Finley connected for their third score of the game from 63 yards.
Then with the starters pulled, Kaden Winkfield added his name to the score sheet with a 27-yard touchdown run, making the score 56-3 going into the final frame.
Brady Powell finished off the scoring just minutes into the fourth quarter with a seven-yard scoring run, bringing the 122th consecutive district win into reality.
Aledo (4-1, 3-0) will get an extra day of rest before hosting Denton Ryan (4-0, 2-0) next Friday. Ryan defeated Granbury 63-20 on Thursday night. Meanwhile, Fossil Ridge (1-4, 1-2) will face Richland (4-0, 2-0) on the road next week.
