Former Keller baseball star hits three home runs against Texas Rangers

It was a great homecoming for Oakland A’s catcher Shea Langeliers on Tuesday.

Langeliers belted three home runs, went 3 for 4 and drove in all four runs as the A’s beat the Texas Rangers 4-3 at Globe Life Field in Arlington.

Langeliers played baseball and graduated from Keller HS before going on to have a stellar college career with the Baylor Bears. He was drafted with the 9th overall pick by the Atlanta Braves during the 2019 MLB Draft. On March 14, 2022, Langeliers was traded to the A’s.

He made his MLB debut on Aug. 16, 2022 – against THE RANGERS – and picked up his first hit and first double. Since then, Langeliers has posted 32 home runs and 92 runs batted in.

Oakland and Texas will wrap up their three-game series Wednesday night at 7:05 pm and Thursday afternoon at 1:35 pm. During his senior year at Keller HS, he hit 0.369 with 6 HR and 31 RBIs. He was drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays in 2016, but signed with Baylor.

As a freshman in Waco, Langeliers had 10 HR and 38 RBIs in 55 games, as a sophomore he had 11 HR and 44 RBIs in 58 games. As a junior, he had a three homers and 11 RBIs in an NCAA tournament game vs Nebraska. He finished that year with 10 HR and 42 RBIs in 44 games.

Langeliers was selected to the All-Big 12 Freshman Team, one Big 12 second team and two Big 12 first teams.
