BOYS SOCCER RECAP: Diamond Hill-Jarvis knocks off Bridgeport; West Mesquite shuts out Frisco

Diamond Hill-Jarvis 3, Bridgeport 1: The Eagles scored twice in the first half on their way to winning their Class 4A Region 2 quarterfinal. DHJ advances to the regional tournament on Friday at Northwest ISD Stadium. DHJ scored in the 18th minute after a scrum 20 yards out. Edgar Resendiz scored on a loose ball past the keeper from the 10. The lead went to 2-0 in the 34th minute when Josue Paredes scored near the left post. Bridgeport cut the lead in half in the 66th minute. DHJ got an insurance goal in the 74th minute on a 40-yarder from Alejandro Ibarra.

Flower Mound 2, Allen 0: Miguel Arenas and Okko Karanen scored within four minutes apart in the second half and the Jaguars knocked out the Eagles to advance to the Class 6A Region 1 tournament on Friday at McKinney ISD Stadium.

Prosper 2, Hebron 0: The Eagles scored both goals after the intermission to down the Hawks in their Class 6A Region 1 quarterfinal contest. Prosper heads to McKinney this weekend for the regional tournament. Hayden Crotts got to the ball in the 56th minute for a 1-0 lead. Shortly after, the lead grew to 2-0 on a goal by Caden Berg.

Castleberry 1, Salado 0: Johan Castaneda scored on a free kick as the Lions shut out Salado to advance to the Class 4A Region 1 tournament at Northwest ISD Stadium in Justin.

West Mesquite 1, Frisco 0: Andrew Castellanos scored off a header in the 35th minute and the Wranglers hung on to beat the Raccoons in their Class 5A Region 2 quarterfinal game. West Mesquite advances to the regonal tournament for the first time since 2009 – which is held Friday at Carrollton’s Standridge Stadium.
