UIL Realignment Day: New District Of Doom in 5A D2?

For many years the nickname the District of Doom has been Duncanville, DeSoto district which is currently 11-6A. Last season the Panthers and Eagles were alongside Cedar Hill, Waxahachie, Mansfield, Mansfield Lake Ridge, Mansfield Legacy and Dallas Skyline.

The UIL realignment was released Thursday morning from Birdville.

Well, Duncanville and DeSoto stayed put in 11-6A.

Cedar Hill, Skyline and Waxahachie also is staying put.

Playoff regular Lancaster moved up from 5A D1 and Mesquite and Mesquite Horn moved over from 10-6A.

But the term District of Doom doesn’t really involve any other districts in DFW – until now.

Look out for District 4-5A Division 2!

Here are the teams: Anna, Frisco Emerson, Lovejoy, Melissa, Prosper Walnut Grove, Denison, Frisco Liberty, Frisco Memorial and Frisco Independence.

Anna moved up from 4A D1.

The Coyotes went 15-1 last season and won their first state title in program history.

Emerson, in just its second year, reached the state semifinals. Lovejoy went 12-2 and went to the regional final for the third time in the past four years. The Leopards went undefeated in district play.

Lovejoy recently hired legendary 7-time state champ Todd Dodge.

Melissa started the season as the #1 team in the state in 5A D2.

The school just opened a brand new stadium.

Denison reached the playoffs. The Frisco schools struggled while Walnut Grove went 3-7 in its first season. Anna, Emerson, Lovejoy and Melissa combined last season for a 49-8 record and 14 playoff victories.
