DFW communities mourn the loss of mother, daughter in car accident

A family from the Arlington/Pantego area is in mourning after senior Hannah McDaniel and her mother died in a car accident on Saturday in the Big Spring area. According to WFAA, Hannah and both her parents got into an accident in Howard County. Both her and her mother died while her father survived.

It’s believed that the family was coming home from a basketball game.

McDaniel was a basketball player for the Pantego Panthers.

According to MaxPreps, the Panthers had played at Midland Classical on Saturday Feb. 3. MCA and Big Spring is roughly 45 miles apart.

Hannah and her mother Brandi, and father Mark were following team buses on the way back. Mark was injured, but later released from the hospital.

Upon return to school on Monday, Pantego students wore blue to honor Hannah and Brandi McDaniel while also doing a ballon release. Arlington Grace Prep, a rival school for Pantego, also chose to honor the family by wearing blue.

Several other schools chose to give prayers to the family with posts on Twitter.

Hannah McDaniel also played volleyball and softball at Pantego.

Mark McDaniel is a paster at New Hope Community Church in Venus, about 30 miles south of Arlington. On Sunday, New Hope Community Church invited the congregation to grieve the loss and pray for the family at its service.
