Brock football star Carson Finney commits to Abilene Christian

Brock senior Carson Finney, who helped the Eagles to two straight state title game appearances, announced his commitment to ACU on Thursday. Finney plays both offense and defense, and stars as a wide receiver and defensive back.

The Eagles reached the Class 3A Division 1 state semifinals in December.

Finney ended the year as the team’s leading receiver with 59 catches, 918 yards and 12 touchdowns. As a team, Brock had 2,600 yards receiving and 33 TDs. Finney averaged 15.4 yards per catch and 60 yards per game.

Defensively, Finney made 20 tackles as a safety and had five interceptions – tied for second on the team.

Finney was named to the THSCA Class 3A Super Elite Team (second team). He was also named to the Star Telegram all-area team and Weatherford Democrat Parker County all-area team. Additionally he was voted first team WR and first team safety by 4-3A D1.

He was committed to Harding, previously, but de committed in January.

Finney put together one of the top careers in program history. He finished his career with 47 consecutive starts with three trips to the state semis and two trips to the state championship.

He’s 3-time all district safety, 2-time Parker County all-area team selection, 2-time Star Telegram all-area team selection and holds career records in receiving yards and interceptions. Finney made 119 career receptions for 1,770 yards and 22 touchdowns. He posted 54 catches, 741 yards and 9 TDs as a junior.

He finished with 205 tackles, 17 INTs, 26 deflections, 3 blocked field goals and 2 forced fumbles. He made six interceptions as a junior as Brock went to the state title game against Franklin.

As a sophomore, Brock lost to Lorena in the title game.

In the last three years, the Eagles posted a 37-10 record.
