This year’s football team at DeSoto was among the best all-time in Texas history.

The Eagles went 15-0 overall, 7-0 in district, beat Duncanville and ended the year with a record-breaking 74-14 victory over Summer Creek in the Class 6A Division 2 state championship game at AT&T Stadium.

Among the fore-front was junior defensive star Keylan Abrams.

He ranked 13th in sacks in the country and 1st in Texas according to MaxPreps.

Those numbers alone were good enough to make Abrams the Big Daddy Media/GM Sports DFW All-Area Defensive Player Of The Year. He was defensive MVP in the title game vs Summer Creek with six tackles, four solo, one sack, four tackles for loss and one interception.

Abrams stands 6-0 and 200 pounds and is already committed to Colorado according to 247Sports.

Additionally, Abrams in #94 among all 2025s in the state.

Abrams continues to be among the top players around. As a sophomore in 2022, DeSoto also won the 6A D2 title. He finished with 74 tackles, 15 1/2 for loss and 10 1/2 sacks during the season.

So do the math.

In only two years, Abrams has 161 tackles, 36 1/2 for loss and 34 sacks.

THIRTY-FOUR SACKS?!!

This season, Abrams had 10+ tackles three times with a season-best 13 in the state semifinal round vs Southlake Carroll. He had games of 4, 4 and 6 tackles for loss (SOC, Summer Creek, Duncanville).

DeSoto beat Duncanville 49-35.

Against Summer Creek, DeSoto scored 36 points in the first quarter. The 74 points scored by the Eagles was the most in a Class 6A state title game all-time and also the second most all time in any class for 11-man in state championship game history. Allen had 63 in 2013. 2A Mart scored 76 vs Gruver in 2018.
