OU signee breaks Haltom single game scoring record in win against Arlington Bowie

Oklahoma signee and Haltom senior forward Kuol Atak scored 48 points on Tuesday during the Buffalos’ 84-59 win over Arlington Bowie in District 8-6A play. Haltom improved to 15-7 overall and 4-0 in district.

The 48 points are a new single game record in program history.

Atak, who stands 6-9, scored 21 of 28 points in the second half during Haltom’s win against Arlington Martin on Friday. According to 247Sports, Atak is a 3-star power forward. He’s the 27th ranked power forward in the country and sixth best player in Texas. He set the scoring record on Tuesday with OU coach Porter Moser in attendance.

Atak signed his letter of intent with OU in November.

Haltom will play at Arlington Sam Houston on Friday before a big matchup next Tuesday at home against state-ranked South Grand Prairie.

The win over Bowie also gave Haltom coach Tyler Hatch his 100th career win – all with the Buffs.

He’s in his sixth season and the 15th win already surpasses last year’s win total when the team posted a 14-16 overall record.
