Bell 2024 linebacker Caleb Jones announced his commitment to Sul Ross State on Monday.
Jones was a first-team all-district selection during the 2023 season. He posted 47 solo tackles, 88 total tackles, 5 tackles for loss, 8 QB hurries and 3 fumble recoveries.
As a junior, Jones had 92 total tackles and 54 solo tackles.
Jones helped Bell the past two seasons as the Blue Raiders posted back-to-back winning records. Bell went 6-4 in 2022 and 7-3 in 2023. It was the first time the program went over 0.500 in back-to-back seasons since doing it four years in a row from 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013.
Bell went 4-3 in District 3-6A last fall – finishing in a tie for third place.
Jones had 10 or more tackles in three straight games – 11 vs Crowley, 16 vs Weatherford and 17 vs Boswell. In Week 11 vs Euless Trinity, Jones posted 6 total tackles. Bell beat Trinity 24-21 – the program’s first win in the series since 1997.
