HE’S BACK! Southlake’s Quinn Ewers says he will return to the Texas Longhorns

After guiding the Texas Longhorns to the College Football Playoffs, sophomore quarterback Quinn Ewers announced that he will return to the football program for the 2024 season. Ewers posted a video on X Thursday morning. Check it down below.

UT had one of its best seasons in recent history capped with its first trip to the national college football semifinals. The Horns won the Big 12 and finished 12-2 after a narrow 37-31 against Washington on New Year’s Day. In the game, Ewers went 24 of 43 with 318 yards and one touchdown. He added 54 yards rushing on eight carries.

On the season, Ewers threw for 3,479 yards and 22 touchdowns in 12 games.

He added five rushing scores and had a completion percentage of 69%.

Ewers best game came in the Big 12 championship – a 49-21 win over Oklahoma State on Dec. 2. He was 35 of 46 for 452 yards with four touchdowns as Texas captured its fourth Big 12 title and first since 2009.

Ewers was the first player to throw four touchdown passes in the fist half of a Big 12 championship game and his 458 yards passing were the most passing yards in a Big 12 championship game – passing Oklahoma’s Sam Bradford, who threw for 384 yards vs Missouri in 2008.

In 2022, Ewers had 2,177 yards passing and accounted for 16 touchdowns in 10 games.

Ewers graduated from Southlake Carroll where he was rated the top quarterback in the country for his class and a 5-star recruit. During his time with the Dragons, he threw for 6,500 yards and 73 touchdowns to only 8 INTs and had a 70 completion percentage. He added 12 TDs in 22 career games.
