OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Caden Durham

POSITION: RB

SCHOOL: Duncanville

CLASS: 2024

HIS STATS: 231 yards rushing, 3 touchdowns vs North Shore

SUMMARY: The 4-star LSU commit was dominate in the first half during Duncanville’s 49-33 win over North Shore in the Class 6A Division 1 state championship on Saturday. It was the Panthers’ fifth state title game appearance in the past six seasons (all against North Shore) and their second straight championship. Durham captured the state title game offensive MVP for the second year in a row. Durham’s TD runs came from 26, 72 and 92 yards.

POSITION: LB

SCHOOL: Anna

CLASS: 2024

HIS STATS: 15 tackles, 5 solo tackles, 1 1/5 tackles for loss

SUMMARY: The dynamic senior linebacker for the Coyotes made all the stops in helping Anna to its 26-0 win over Tyler Chapel Hill in the Class 4A Division 1 state championship. Miller was voted state title game defensive MVP. It was Anna’s first football title in program history and first state title for any team sport in school history. Miller finished the season with nearly 200 tackles and is up for our all-area defensive MVP.

SCORE: 26-0

OPPONENT: Tyler Chapel Hill

SUMMARY: The Coyotes made history last week in winning their first football state championship in program history. The shutout was the first at state, in any class, since Austin Westlake blanked Denton Guyer in 2019. It was the first shutout in 4A since Atlanta did it against Marlin in 2003. After going a school best 13-1 last year in 2022 – Anna broke that record with a 15-1 finish this season.
