Keller grad Kate Lang surpasses career milestone with Hawaii Rainbow Wahine

Kate Lang, who starred for the Keller volleyball team and graduated in 2020, recently passed 3,000 career assists in college while playing for the University of Hawaii.

Lang hit the mark on Saturday with 40 assists during Hawaii’s win over Cal State Fullerton.

The Rainbow Wahine have two matches left in the regular season – Friday vs UC San Diego and Saturday vs Lone Beach State. Both games are at home. Then UH will play in the Big West Conference tournament in Long Beach starting next Wednesday Nov. 22.

After achieving the mark, Lang was awarded with Big West Setter of the Week – her seventh award of the season and ninth in her career. She posted 79 assists in a pair of wins. Lang had 39 assists against UC Irvine and added her team high 11th double double vs Fullerton.

Lang has played in every set this season and leads the Big West with 1,013 total assists along with a league best 10.44 assists per set. After UH’s season was canceled during the 2020 COVID year, Lang posted 901 assists in 2021. Lang then added 1,102 assists last season.

Hawaii is 19-8 this season and 12-4 in conference play.

Lang is the NINTH player in program history to join the 3,000 assist club.

Lang was Big West Setter of the Week and first team all-conference last season. She was also three time setter of the week as well as conference first team in 2021. At Keller, Lang posted over 3,000 assists and was a four-year starter.
