In her first season at Dallas Baptist, Taylor Tufts quickly made her impact.
After finishing with seven goals and 17 assists, the Southlake Carroll grad was named Lone Star Conference Player of the Year on Nov. 10. She was also named 2023 D2 South Central Region Player of the Year on Tuesday.
A junior, Tufts led DBU in assists, points (31) and shots (74).
Her 17 assists ranked #1 in the nation and tied a Lone Star Conference record for most in a single season all-time.
Tufts was also selected to the 2023 D2 CCA South-Central Region First Team for the first time in her career, LSC Forward of the Year and the LSC Newcomer of the Year.
In 18 matches this season, Tufts posted an assist in 12 of them, including the first five games of the season totaling 8 overall. She had three assists against Oklahoma Baptist on Sept. 16. She recorded one point in all but five games.
She also had a goal and an assist in the same game five times.
DBU went 14-1-4 overall and won the regular season and tournament titles in the LSC.
Prior to DBU, Tufts played at North Texas where she was second team all conference USA two years ago and first team all conference in 2022. She signed her letter of intent with Oklahoma and graduated from SLC in 2019 following an incredible career – capped off with the Class 6A state championship.
She was a multiple All-American in high school and two-time District MVP.
Tufts finished high school with 72 goals and 60 assists overall – the only Carroll Dragon with 70 goals/60 assists in a career.
Her sister Kenzi is a senior at Carroll and will join Taylor at DBU next year. Kenzi won a state title in 2022.
