The 2023 UIL Snapshot Day was Friday – an exciting day to see where your school lands during the next realignment. Snapshot day is a day where schools submit early enrollment numbers. The UIL will announce the 2024-2026 realignment in February.
As of Friday, cut-off numbers and divisional figures are not yet decided and should be announced in December, based on the current realignment.
Based on 2022-24 cut-off numbers, most notable DFW teams that will move up to Class 6A- Aledo, Granbury and Princeton.
Princeton turned in 2,382 well over the 2,225 mark during the current realignment.
It wasn’t that long ago when Princeton was a Class 4A school.
Aledo and Granbury are just over that number with 2,267 and 2,249 respectively. Aledo just moved up to Class 5A Division 1 for football during the current realignment.
Burleson Centennial also moved up to 5A D1 and is on the fence for a move to 6A next year. The Spartans turned in 2,193.
Highland Park will be headed to Class 5A again with 2,165.
The Scots have been in 6A the past two years.
According to Dave Campbell’s Texas Football, Garland ISD schools will remain in 6A. Three turned in numbers below 2,220 but will opt up to 6A- Lakeview Centennial, Naaman Forest and South Garland.
In 5A football, 2022-24 cut-off numbers were 1925-2224 for D1 and 1300-1924 in D2.
Lake Dallas, which is in 5A and 5A D2 for football, will be moving down to 4A and 4A D1. The Falcons turned in 1,287.
Aubrey football will move up to 4A D1. The Chaparrals turned in 1,039 well over the cut-off of 880 in the current realignment.
Brock will also be moving up to 4A D2.
After many years in Class 3A, the Eagles turned in 629 with the current cut-off at 545.
Now the question, what district makes the most sense?
Rumors are FW Paschal will move down to 5A which opens a spot in 3-6A for Aledo along with North Crowley, Crowley, Trinity, Bell, Boswell, Chisholm Trail and Weatherford.
But what will happen to Boswell and CT?
They’re already on the low end of 6A and will a new school set to open next fall Eagle Mountain HS, it only makes sense at least one of them moves down with Saginaw HS.
If that’s the case, Granbury should also join the current 3-6A teams with Aledo.
Princeton is less than an hour from McKinney, Allen and Plano. It only makes sense that Princeton joins either the Allen, Prosper, McKinney district or the Lewisville, Plano district. Both have eight schools currently.
During its last few times in 5A, Highland Park was in a district with Mesquite and Forney. Before that it was with Carrollton. The Scots were very successful during its time in 5A, winning multiple state titles. Currently, HP is in a 6A district with Richardson and Irving.
Where does Brock go?
During the current realignment, there are only three 4A D2 districts with a DFW school.
The closest to Brock is 4-4A that features Glen Rose, Godley, Venus, Hillsboro, Ferris and Benbrook. But you just never know. The UIL always seems to throw a curve ball. Could they have Brock traveling west?
