College Athlete of the Week: Eaton’s Lily Bickley

In our third installment of GM Sports Media’s college athlete of the week in 2023, Lubbock Christian volleyball player and Eaton graduate Lily Bickley is our latest winner.

College athletes must have played for a high school in DFW.

Bickley, who starred for the Eagles in high school, went into the record book at LCU during the Chaparrals game against UT Tyler on Saturday. In the four set match, Bickley posted 15 kills, a 0.406 hitting percentage and NINE blocks. She finished with 19.5 points.

She’s the fourth LCU player since 2008 to post nine assisted blocks in a match (no player has more). It’s also the most since the 2017 season.

Her 15 kills and 9 blocks are all season highs.

Her 19.5 points are a career high.

Her 0.406 hitting is her fourth highest this season and second highest with 10 or more kills.

Lubbock Christian is 9-5 this season and 1-3 in conference play. Bickley has 140 kills in 54 sets while hitting 0.249 with 40 total blocks. Last year she had 210 kills in 90 sets with a 0.232 percentage and 39 total blocks. Bickley was a Lone Star Conference Player to Watch in the preseason this fall.

In HS, Bickley helped Eaton to back to back regional finals as a junior and senior. As a senior in 2021, Eaton posted a school record 37 wins. She was a two-time first team all district selection. Bickley posted 398 kills, a 0.268 hitting percentage and 52 total blocks in two seasons. She had 292 kills in 130 sets as a senior.
