Anna gets back in win column, Coyotes spoil All Saints homecoming night

FORT WORTH – The Anna Coyotes were looking to bounce back after suffering a heartbreaking 42-40 loss in four overtimes against Celina in Week 4. Meanwhile, they made the trip to Fort Worth against an undefeated All Saints team that was celebrating homecoming and alumni night. 

All Saints struggled in the first half, but did manage to gain momentum when the Saints pulled within 24-20 at the 9:27 mark of the fourth quarter.

Virginia Tech commit QB Kelden Ryan hit Ryan Kramer for a long gain and then thew up a pass which receiver Qumonte Williams came down with it in the end zone to make it a 4-point game.

The Saints (4-1) trailed 24-7 after three quarters.

On a fourth-and-2, Ryan scrambled to his right and flicked a pass to Dougie Dodard who broke a tackle down the sideline and scored a TD. The extra point was blocked and the Anna lead was 24-13 with 11:15 left in the fourth. Anna (3-1) scored two touchdowns in the first quarter to grab a 14-0 lead. 

QB Ziondre Williams found Ronald Bell Jr. on a 19-yard TD with 3:17 left in the period. Then George Rogers took the hand off from Williams and scored 20 yards out to give the Coyotes a two-TD lead with 1:23 on the clock. 

Ryan was under heavy pressure throughout the entire night. 

A sack from Anna ended the first quarter. The final play of the game was also a sack. 

The Saints managed to put together a drive into Anna territory, but it stalled after another sack on fourth-and-2 turned the ball over back to the Coyotes. Running back Edward Chumley converted a fourth-and-1 in the red zone and then he scored from 15 yards to give Anna a 21-0 lead in the second quarter. 

All Saints got in the red zone late in the first half.

With four seconds left before intermission, Ryan threw a pass to Kramer. He caught it at the 9, made one man miss before being tackled at the 3 by Grayson Stewart to run the clock out. 

The Saints got the ball to start the third quarter and scored less than two minutes. Dodard found the end zone to trim the Anna lead to 21-7. 

Williams led Anna with 197 yards passing and three touchdowns and added 39 yards on the ground. Rogers and Chumley scored second touchdowns to help Anna pull away in the fourth after All Saints had cut it to 24-20. 

Ryan did finish 21 of 30 for 323 yards and three scores and no interceptions. However, the Saints run game was held in negative yardage due to the large amount of sacks from Anna.

Chumley rushed six times for 77 yards and Bell added 47. 

Dodard had seven catches for 134 yards and two TDs. Kramer added 74 yards.
