The Ann Kang Invitational runs Thursday through Saturday at ‘Iolani High School in Honolulu, Hawaii and four teams from Texas are in the field, including three from Dallas-Fort Worth.
Boswell, Lucas Lovejoy and Glen Rose will begin pool play on Thursday.
San Antonio Cornerstone is also playing in the Aloha State.
The tournament will feature a best 2 out of 3 format with the third set going to 15. Lovejoy and Glen Rose are in Pool A while Boswell and Cornerstone are in Pool B.
Lovejoy will play Moanalua (Hawaii), Glen Rose and Los Alamitos (California) on Thursday and then Punahou (Hawaii), Baldwin (Hawaii) and Oaks Christian (California) on Friday.
The Leopards went 27-15 last season with a trip to the Class 5A Region 2 regional semifinals. They defeated Denton Guyer 3-1 on Tuesday. They are ranked No. 1 in the area and No. 6 in the Class 5A state rankings.
Glen Rose will play Los Alamitos, Lovejoy and Oaks Christian on Thursday and then Mira Costa (California), Moanalua and Punahou on Friday. The Tigers went 28-13 last season with a trip to the Class 4A Region 1 quarterfinals. They went 1-1 on Tuesday with a 3-2 win over Sanger. The Tigers are area ranked and No. 9 in the state
Boswell will play its first game of the season on Thursday against Sierra Canyon. The Pioneers will also play Huntington Beach (California) and Kapolei (Hawaii). They will then face Mid Pac (Hawaii), Cornerstone and ‘Iolani on Friday. Boswell went 35-13 last season with a trip to the Class 6A Region 1 semifinals. The team is also area ranked and No. 9 in the state.
The Ann Kang Tournament has been running since 1989.
No team from Texas has won the tournament. Byron Nelson came in second during the 2019 season. Mira Costa is the defending tournament champion.
Boswell has been to Hawaii multiple times. This is Glen Rose’s second trip. Other DFW teams to go to Hawaii include Southlake Carroll and Granbury.
