Former Kennedale soccer star signs contract extension with Belgian professional team 

Allie Thornton, the high school soccer legend that led Kennedale to back-to-back UIL state titles, signed a contract extension with RSCA Women on Friday.

RSCA is short for Royal Sporting Club Anderlecht and located in Tubize, Belgium.

Thornton, now 25, scored 10 goals and had seven assists last season while playing for the First Team. RSCA plays in what’s called the Super League and formerly played in the Belgian First Division.

The team has won five Super League titles (2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022) and has 23 total titles.

Thornton previously played professional soccer with French team HAC Feminines, when she signed with the organization in January of 2020. Later that year she graduated from SMU, where she was a four year player for the Mustangs.

She played in 6,270 minutes during her SMU career and posted 79 games, 78 starts, 37 goals, nine assists and 83 points. She had 199 total shots, 98 shots on goal and 13 game winning goals. Her best year came as a senior when she scored a career high 13 goals with a career high 29 points.

Thornton was a 3-star forward and regarded as one of the all time best Texas high school girls soccer players when she came out of Kennedale. She also played for Solar Chelsea 98 ECNL. She had 38 goals and 22 assists in 2015 capped off with a Class 4A state championship. Thornton came back as a senior in 2016 and had 42 goals and 21 assists as the Wildcats repeated as 4A champs. She finished her career with 134 goals.
