Duncanville star athlete Caden Durham commits with LSU football

DFW COACHING CHANGES

RETURING PASSING LEADERS

It was a big day on Thursday for the Duncanville Panthers.

On the same day when 5-star edge rusher Colin Simmons committed to the Texas Longhorns, 4-star running back Caden Durham announced his commitment to LSU.

The 5-foot-9 Durham chose LSU over Oklahoma.

He had a total of 35 offers according to 247Sports, which also included Alabama, Texas, Texas Tech, Stanford and national runner-up TCU.

Durham ranks 95th in the nation among the Class of 2024, the 9th best running back and the 18th best player in the state, per the 247Sports composite. He is the top ranked 2024 RB in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex.

Durham and LSU have been busy in the summer. He made two visits, most recently on July 28. 247Sports analyst Mike Roach then predicted the LSU commit three days later.

According to 247Sports analyst Gabe Brooks, Durham is “One of the top backs in Texas for the 2024 recruiting cycle. Shorter in stature, but owns some bulk and musculature. Runs hard and displays encouraging contact balance relative to size. Excellent multi-sport athlete with extensive 100-meter experience faster than the 11.00-second threshold.”

Durham capped off his junior season in December with 1,960 yards on 210 carries and 36 touchdowns. He added one touchdown catch. He was voted state champ offensive MVP after helping the Panthers to a 28-21 win over Galena Park North Shore in the Class 6A D1 state championship game.

Durham also had 700 yards and seven touchdowns two years ago as a sophomore.

A gifted athlete, he took home three UIL state medals in May, including a first place gold in the 4×100 relay and a silver in the 4×200 relay.
