Rockwall star softball outfielder commits to Kansas

Rockwall 2024 outfielder Ava Wallace announced her commitment on Wednesday to continue her softball career with the Kansas Jayhawks.

“I am extremely blessed and excited to announce I will be continuing my academic and athletic career at the University of Kansas. I want to thank God, my family, friends, teammates and coaches for getting me where I am today,” she said in a Twitter post.

Wallace, who plays select with Impact Gold, was voted first team all district in 10-6A and outfielder of the year, after helping the Yellowjackets to a undefeated district title and 30-6-1 overall record.

According to the team’s MaxPreps page, Wallace played in 35 games and batted 0.400 with 44 hits, 31 runs, 34 RBI, 14 doubles, 1 triple and 2 home runs. She also had 13 stolen bases and a perfect fielding percentage with 4 assists and 47 putouts in 51 total chances.

Rockwall reached the regional quarterfinals where the Jackets lost to Wylie in three games.

Wallace batted 0.485 with 32 hits, 26 runs, 37 RBI, 7 doubles, 5 triples and 6 homers last season as a sophomore.
