Check out this year’s high school softball superlatives for around the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. It includes player of the year, offensive and defensive player of the year, pitcher of the year, utility player of the year, newcomers of the year and coach of the year.

To recap: Denton Guyer, Colleyville Heritage, Frisco Heritage, Decatur and Aubrey reached this year’s UIL state tournament. Plano John Paul II and Frisco Legacy Christian won state titles in TAPPS and Fort Worth Country Day is the SPC champ.

FIRST TEAM

PITCHERS

LANDRIE HARRIS, SENIOR, FLOWER MOUND: The Grand Canyon signee is in the conversation for the greatest pitcher in program history after setting career marks in ERA, strikeouts, innings, shutouts and complete games. The 6-6A Pitcher of the Year ended the year 17-3 with a 1.05 ERA and 229 strikeouts. She helped the Jags to state in 2021 and the regional semifinals this spring. Harris was named 6A all state.

AVA EDWARDS, SENIOR, ARGYLE: The Eagles won a district title in their first season in Class 5A and were led from the circle by Edwards, who won 21 games and set a single season record with 224 strikeouts. The Regis signee and 7-5A Pitcher of the Year is the career record holder in wins, ERA and strikeouts.

SADIE BECK, JUNIOR, KELLER: The Tarleton State commit helped the Indians to the regional final against Denton Guyer. Beck posted an 18-5 record with a 2.00 ERA and 119 strikeouts. She also had 35 hits and 15 RBI, and was selected to first team in 4-6A.

ABBY MANGRUM, SOPHOMORE, ROYSE CITY: Mangrum was selected to 10-6A first team after helping the Bulldogs to the third round in their first year in Class 6A. She posted a 26-4 record with 221 strikeouts in 162 2/3 innings. Mangrum posted a 1.72 ERA and held opposing batters to a 0.191 batting average.

CAILEY SLADE, SOPHOMORE, FORNEY: Another strong 2025 pitcher is Slade, who just in two years has already won 50 games for the Jackrabbits. This season the 14-5A MVP went 23-1 with a 1.09 ERA and 201 strikeouts. She also batted 0.458 with 4 home runs and 28 RBI as Forney went undefeated in district for the second straight year.

AVERY HOANG, SOPHOMORE, MANSFIELD LAKE RIDGE: Hoang has put together two strong seasons to start her high school career. After helping the Eagles to the 6A state title game in 2022, Hoang came back this season and threw a 1.21 ERA and 137 strikeouts. She posted a 20-1 record and was voted 11-6A Pitcher of the Year.

CATCHERS

CASSIDY FIXICO, SENIOR, SOUTH GRAND PRAIRIE: Fixico defended her District MVP again with her third straight honor in 8-6A as the Warriors won the district title. She batted 0.425 with 45 hits, 30 RBI, 12 doubles and 5 triples. Fixico committed just one error in 182 total chances. In 2022, she helped SGP to its first regional semifinal in 21 years.

ALEXIS PERALES, SENIOR, COLLEYVILLE HERITAGE: The Missouri State signee was awarded 7-5A Defensive MVP after helping the Panthers to their first state berth in 25 years. Perales batted 0.432 with 54 hits and 44 RBI, and was named 5A all state.

RAIGAN BRANNON, SENIOR, MANSFIELD LAKE RIDGE: The Lamar signee was 11-6A Catcher of the Year and helped the Eagles to a 34-1 record. Brannon hit 0.430 with 40 hits, 4 home runs and drove in 35 runs.

RILEY OWEN, SENIOR, ARGYLE: Owen helped the Eagles to a district title and the regional quarterfinals in their first year in Class 5A. She was voted 7-5A Catcher of the Year, the third time she’s been district catcher of the year. Owen had 7 homers and 26 runs batted in.

KYLIE GRAFA, SOPHOMORE, GRANDVIEW: Grafa helped the Zebras to their second state appearance in program history and was named 17-3A Offensive MVP after batting 0.435 with 13 home runs, 28 extra base hits, and 56 runs batted in.

BROOKE WOOTEN, FRESHMAN, FRISCO LONE STAR: The 9-5A Catcher of the Year finished her first season with 48 hits, 6 home runs, 5 triples, 10 doubles, 34 RBI and 56 runs batted in. Wooten posted a 0.984 fielding percentage and helped the Rangers to their first regional final appearance.

CORNER INFIELD

TORI EDWARDS, SENIOR, FM MARCUS: Edwards was voted 6-6A Offensive MVP with 12 home runs, 27 RBI, 49 runs scored and a 0.557 batting average. The LSU signee hit 35 home runs during the past three seasons and helped the Marauders to the regional finals in 2022.

AVERY JEFFERSON, SENIOR, DENTON GUYER: Jefferson was voted 5-6A MVP after helping the Wildcats to a 38-2 record and their first trip to state since 2010. The 6A all state selection and ACU signee batted 0.504 with 6 homers and a team high 58 runs batted in. Jefferson was also voted DFW Fast Pitch Senior of the Year.

REGAN DILLON, SENIOR, ARGYLE: Dillon is headed to Lafayette College after helping the Eagles to a district title and regional quarterfinal appearance. She hit 0.465 with 10 home runs, 50 RBI, 39 runs and a school record 19 doubles. Dillon is the school’s career record holder in hits, doubles and runs batted in.

BELLA JETER, JUNIOR, GRANDVIEW: Jeter was on fire during the Zebras playoff run to the state tournament. She finished the season with a 0.500 batting average, 15 home runs, 31 extra base hits, 0.963 slugging, 58 RBI and 56 runs scored. Jeter hit 9 homers in the postseason, including 4 in one game.

ABBY MOSLEY, JUNIOR, DECATUR: Mosely was selected to the Class 4A state team after helping the Eagles to the state tournament. She batted 0.380 with 46 hits, 38 runs and led the team with 6 homers, 15 doubles and 41 runs batted in.

SAMANTHA RILEY, FRESHMAN, FRISCO HERITAGE: Riley helped Heritage to its first state appearance and was the only player on the team to reach the 5A state all-tournament team. She batted 0.400 with 46 hits, 16 doubles, 8 homers and 53 RBI. She also went 6-1 from the circle.

MIDDLE INFIELD

LOGAN HALLEMAN, SENIOR, FLOWER MOUND: The future Texas Tech Red Raider had one of the best seasons and careers of all time. Halleman, who was voted Co MVP in 6-6A, set program single season records with a 0.605 average, 69 hits and 56 steals. The 6A all state pick is the career record holder at Flower Mound in batting, hits, runs and steals.

SADIE REID, SENIOR, JUSTIN NORTHWEST: The Harding signee batted 0.463 with 56 hits, 5 home runs, 15 doubles, 47 RBI, 38 runs scored and 16 stolen bases as the Texans reached the Class 5A Region 1 final for the second time in three seasons. The 5-5A first team shortstop has the program season records for doubles and triples, and is the career record holder in hits, doubles, triples and runs batted in. Reid was voted 5A all state.

EMMA ZABORONEK, SENIOR, FRISCO LONE STAR: The Harding signee was voted 9-5A Co-Offensive MVP after helping the Rangers to their first trip to the regional final, where they lost 1-0 to Frisco Heritage. Zaboronek had team highs in hits, home runs and steals. She finished with a 0.438 average, 57 hits, 7 homers, 39 RBI, 55 runs and 34 steals. She was voted 5A all state.

AUBREY BROWN, SENIOR, WYLIE: Brown was voted first team in District 9-5A and will continue her career at Lamar University. She helped the Pirates to the 6A Region 2 semifinals after hitting 0.439 with 54 hits, 32 RBI and 23 stolen bases. Brown helped Wylie to 90 wins and three district titles in three seasons.

KASSIDY CHANCE, JUNIOR, MANSFIELD LAKE RIDGE: The McNeese State commit was voted 11-6A Offensive MVP and 6A all state with a 0.642 batting average, 61 hits, 5 home runs, 61 RBI and 54 runs scored. She helped the Eagles to a 34-1 record.

CAIGAN CRABTREE, SOPHOMORE, MELISSA: Crabtree was voted District 13-5A Offensive MVP after helping the Cardinals to an undefeated district title and regional semifinal appearance in their first year in Class 5A. She batted 0.505, slugged 1.022 with 9 home runs, 10 doubles, 41 RBI and 47 runs scored.

OUTFIELD

EMILY JACOBS, SENIOR, BURLESON: The 8-5A Offensive MVP hit 0.516 with a 1.204 slugging percentage, 15 home runs, 32 extra base hits, 38 RBI and 54 runs scored. The Hardin Simmons signee was a two time player of the week and had two games this season with three home runs.

PARIS JOHNSON, SENIOR, MANSFIELD LAKE RIDGE: The Texas Southern signee was 11-6A first team after helping the Eagles to a 34-0 start to the season. Johnson hit 0.518 with 7 home runs, 49 RBI, 59 runs scored and 40 stolen bases, and didn’t commit a single error. Johnson helped Lake Ridge to its first trip to the state title game in 2022. Johnson was named 6A all state.

MAYA BLAND, SENIOR, ARGYLE: The 5A all state selection will continue her career with three time defending champ Oklahoma after a stellar two years with the Eagles. This season, Bland hit 0.500 with 10 homers, 34 RBI, 43 runs and 16 steals. Bland had 26 home runs and 95 runs batted in during the past two seasons. She helped Argyle to a district title in its first year in Class 5A.

ADAYAH WALLACE, SENIOR, PLANO WEST: Texas Longhorn signee was voted Co MVP of District 6-6A after helping the Wolves to their first district championship and deepest playoff run since 2017. Wallace batted 0.415 with 46 hits, 46 runs scored and 28 steals.

DENAE VASQUEZ-DICKSON, SENIOR, COLLEYVILLE HERITAGE: The New Mexico signee was voted 7-5A first team after batting 0.466 with 62 hits, 7 home runs, 35 runs batted in, 73 runs scored and 34 steals. She helped the Panthers to their first state berth since 1998.

JORDYN MERRETT, SENIOR, WYLIE: The 9-6A MVP is headed to Ouachita Baptist after helping the Pirates to the regional semifinals. Merrett had a 0.447 batting average, 14 home runs and 44 RBI. She also pitched and posted a 10-2 record from the circle.

UTILITY

FAITH DRISSEL, SENIOR, FM MARCUS: Drissel was voted District 6-6A first team after leading the Marauders from the circle. The Tarleton State signee won 14 games and struck out 198 batters. From the plate, Drissel had 9 home runs and 24 RBI. In 2022, she helped Marcus to its first regional final in nine years.

MAKAYLA COX, SENIOR, FRISCO REEDY: The Tarleton State signee was voted 9-5A Pitcher of the Year after setting a program single season record with 24 wins. Cox posted a 1.86 ERA, 262 strikeouts and 0.158 opponents batting average. Offensively, Cox had career highs with a 0.490 average, 48 hits and 57 RBI.

RONNIE JOHNSON, SENIOR, FRISCO LEGACY CHRISTIAN: The Arkansas Monticello signee had a monster year for the Eagles and helped the team to its second straight TAPPS D2 state title. Johnson was voted to the state all-tournament team. She led the team in pitching and with a 0.635 average, 54 hits, 18 doubles, 13 homers and 59 RBI.

BAILEY LINDEMUTH, JUNIOR, BURLESON CENTENNIAL: Texas Tech commit and District 8-5A MVP put together another great season for the Spartans, who won a district title. She hit 0.567 with 8 home runs, 38 RBI and 38 runs scored. Lindemuth posted a 1.122 slugging percentage. In the circle, she had a 1.54 ERA and 156 strikeouts in just under 100 innings pitched.

NATALIE MOREAUX, SOPHOMORE, MANSFIELD LEGACY: The District 11-6A MVP and 6A all state selection hit 0.500 with 14 home runs at the plate. From the circle, Moreaux had a sub-1.00 ERA, 17 wins, 273 strikeouts and helped the Broncos to the area round.

MADI DOTY, FRESHMAN, GRANDVIEW: After winning a gold medal with Team USA earlier in the season, Doty helped the Zebras to the state tournament for the second time in program history. Despite a loss in the semifinals, Doty was named to the 3A state all-tournament team. She was voted 17-3A MVP and 3A all state with a 19-3 record, 4 saves, 231 strikeouts and a 1.37 ERA, hit 0.427 with 7 homers and 35 runs batted in.

SECOND TEAM

PITCHERS

NATHALIE TOUCHET, SENIOR, ALEDO: The Missouri signee was voted 5-5A Co-Pitcher of the Year after helping the Ladycats to a district title for the third straight season. She went 11-1 with a 0.70 ERA and 98 strikeouts in 70 innings. She also hit three home runs.

MACEY JONES, SENIOR, DECATUR: Jones was the ace of the program and named to the 4A all state team as the Eagles reached the state semifinals. She won 22 games this season with a 1.66 ERA and 284 strikeouts. She held opponents to a 0.199 batting average.

AINSLEY PEMBERTON, JUNIOR, ROCKWALL: Pemberton, who was voted District 10-6A MVP, went 24-5 with a 1.34 ERA and 233 strikeouts for the Yellowjackets. She is committed to Ivy League school Penn.

LINDSEY MCCONNELL, JUNIOR, COLLEYVILLE HERITAGE: McConnell shined in the regional final against Northwest that helped the Panthers to their second state tournament berth. She was 2-0 with 1 earned run in 19 innings, including a 1-hit shutout in Game 1 and 1-0 win in Game 3. The 7-5A first tam pitcher went 24-7 overall.

ALEX STARR, SOPHOMORE, MELISSA: Starr was voted 13-5A MVP after helping the Cardinals to a undefeated district title and trip to the regional semifinals in their first year in Class 5A. Melissa was in a one game series during all four rounds of the playoffs and fell short to Frisco Heritage 1-0 in the semis. Starr only gave up two hits and struck out 12. Overall, she went 22-2 with a 1.44 ERA and 230 strikeouts.

JERNIE NERIO, FRESHMAN, SOUTH GRAND PRAIRIE: In her first season, Nerio was voted District 8-6A Pitcher of the Year after helping the Warriors to the regional quarterfinals. She won 23 games with a 2.08 ERA and 206 strikeouts. She held opponents to a 0.172 batting average. Nerio also hit 5 home runs with 23 RBI.

CATCHERS

KATIE CANTRELL, SENIOR, FLOWER MOUND: The Akron bound catcher made the District 6-6A first team after hitting 0.412 for the Jags with 40 hits and 30 RBI. Cantrell threw out 5 base runners as Flower Mound reached the regional semis.

BROOKE HILTON, SENIOR, PLANO WEST: The Texas A&M Commerce signee and 6-6A Catcher of the Year threw out 12 base runners. She also batted 0.400 with 42 hits, 12 doubles, 4 homers and 39 RBI for the district champs.

SYDNEY MURPHY, JUNIOR, WYLIE: Murphy helped the Pirates to the 9-6A title and a regional semifinal berth. She was voted first team all district with a 0.441 batting average, 53 RBI and 28 extra base hits.

MADI MORELAND, SOPHOMORE, DECATUR: Moreland was selected to first team in District 7-4A and helped the Eagles to the state tournament. In 335 total chances, she posted a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage. Moreland was behind the plate in all 44 games for Decatur and finished with 14 assists and threw out 8 base runners.

ABBY VAN VOLKENBURGH, SOPHOMORE, PLANO JOHN PAUL II: The Cardinals catcher and TAPPS D1 state champ ended the season with 20 assists behind the plate. Offensively, she batted 0.538 with 56 hits, both team highs, and 6 homers, 16 doubles and 34 runs batted in.

ABBY BUXTON, FRESHMAN, AUBREY: Buxton was voted 11-4A Catcher of the Year after helping the Chaparrals to their first state berth since 2007. She finished with a remarkable 0.990 fielding percentage with only 3 errors on 297 total chances. She also batted 0.381 with 5 home runs and 39 runs batted in.

CORNER INFIELD

KATE PISKOR, SENIOR, FRISCO WAKELAND: The 9-5A MVP helped Wakeland to a co-district championship with Lone Star. Piskor ended the year with 15 wins and 170 strikeouts in 102 innings. Opponents batted just 0.196. She added team highs 15 doubles and 38 RBI from the plate. Piskor also played at first base.

PRESLEY HULL, SENIOR, ALEDO: Hull was voted 5-5A first team after helping the Ladycats to a district title and area round appearance. Hull batted 0.393 with 35 hits and 28 runs batted in.

MARISSA ESPINOZA, SENIOR, KELLER: Espinoza was voted 4-6A first team after helping the Indians to the regional finals. The Incarnate Word signee batted 0.375 with 45 hits, 4 home runs and 27 runs batted in.

BRYNLIE DUNKIN, JUNIOR, AUBREY: Dunkin helped the Chaparrals to their first state trip since 2007 and was voted 11-4A MVP. She hit 0.396 and led the team with 43 runs batted in. She also won 15 games from the circle with a 1.14 ERA, 131 strikeouts and threw two no-hitters.

CLAIRE SCHREINER, SOPHOMORE, FRISCO WAKELAND: Schreiner was voted 9-5A first team after helping Wakeland to a district championship. She batted 0.424 with 36 hits and 35 runs, and had the team lead with 5 home runs and 28 runs batted in.

PAISLEY NEEDHAM, SOPHOMORE, MELISSA: Needham was voted 13-5A first team for the Cardinals, who won the district championship. Needham came up clutch at the plate, especially through the playoffs as Melissa reached the 5A Region 2 semifinals. She also played great defense from third base.

MIDDLE INFIELD

MARCELLA JAQUES, SENIOR, PLANO JOHN PAUL II: Jaques helped the Cardinals to their second TAPPS D1 state title in three seasons and was named to the state all-tournament team. Jaques batted 0.485 with 54 hits, 13 doubles and team-highs 11 home runs, 9 triples, 46 RBI and 50 runs scored. She made 38 assists at shortstop.

KAITLYN SAILOR, SENIOR, CELINA: The UT-Arlington signee was voted District 11-4A Offensive MVP after hitting 0.517 with 6 home runs, 36 RBI and 19 steals. She ended her Bobcat career as a 0.506 hitter with 25 homers and 139 runs batted in.

JENNA JOYCE, SENIOR, ROYSE CITY: The 10-6A Offensive MVP and Texas A&M Commerce bound second baseman helped the Bulldogs shine in their first year in Class 6A, that included a playoff upset over No. 1 Mansfield Lake Ridge. Joyce hit 0.588 with 6 home runs, 20 doubles and 49 runs batted in. Joyce was a 6A all state selection.

ERIN PETERSON, JUNIOR, DENTON GUYER: The 5-6A first team shortstop and Texas State commit hit 0.403 with 11 doubles and 44 RBI. Defensively, Peterson helped turn 11 double plays as the Wildcats reached the 6A state title game.

BRADI GALLAWAY, SOPHOMORE, WHITESBORO: The District 10-3A MVP helped the Bearcats to 34 wins and their first trip to the regional final. She led the team in batting average (0.582), hits (57), runs (63), doubles (15) and a school record 18 home runs. Gallaway drove in 38 runs and was 3A all state.

BRI DUFFEY, FRESHMAN, ROYSE CITY: The 10-6A Newcomer of the Year was among the leading hitters for the Class of 2026 with a 0.443 average, 10 home runs, 12 doubles and 46 RBI.

OUTFIELD

TEHYA PITTS, SENIOR, DENTON GUYER: The A&M Commerce signee helped Guyer to its first appearance in the state championship, and was one of four Wildcats to be named to the all-tournament team. Pitts finished off the year batting 0.418 with 29 RBI and 47 runs scored. She recorded a 0.982 fielding percentage.

TIA WARSOP, SENIOR, MANSFIELD LAKE RIDGE: The Oklahoma State bound center fielder is playing for the Great Britain national team for the third straight year this summer. Warsop batted 0.535 with 3 homers, 23 runs batted in, 40 steals and 51 runs scored.

JOREY HOOD, SENIOR, KELLER: The Hardin Simmons signee and District 4-6A Offensive MVP helped Keller to the 6A Region 1 final, where the Indians took state runner up Guyer to three games. Hood batted 0.364 with 55 hits and 34 runs. From the circle, she won 16 games and posted a 2.17 ERA.

CLAIRE BYARS, SENIOR, ALEDO: Byars helped the Ladycats to their third straight district title after leading the team with a 0.420 batting average, 37 hits, 41 runs scored, 3 home runs and 6 triples.

KIRSTYN JONES, JUNIOR, FRISCO LONE STAR: The 9-5A first team center fielder batted 0.487 for the regional finalist. She led the Rangers with 20 doubles and 42 runs batted in. Jones also had 47 runs scored, 55 hits and 4 home runs.

SABRINA WICK, JUNIOR, THE COLONY: Wick was voted 9-5A Utility MVP after helping the Cougars to a playoff appearance and a near upset win over state semifinalist Frisco Heritage in the first round. Wick led the team with a 0.518 average, 1.410 OPS, 57 hits, 7 triples, 48 runs, 28 walks and 33 steals.

UTILITY

KADIN VIRE, SENIOR, WAXAHACHIE: The 11-6A Defensive MVP is headed to the University of Missouri-Kansas City after helping the Indians to 27 wins and the area round in 6A Region 2. She batted 0.445 with 49 hits, 40 RBI, 42 runs and 18 stolen bases.

AHNA VANMETER, JUNIOR, FRISCO HERITAGE: The Coyotes shortstop was voted 10-5A Co Offensive MVP with 50 hits, 23 for extra bases, 5 home runs, 14 doubles, 35 RBI, 40 runs and 15 steals. She helped Heritage to its first state berth.

JACEY LEES, JUNIOR, RICHLAND: Lees was voted District 7-5A MVP after guiding the Royals to the regional quarterfinals for the first time in nine years. She was the ace of the staff and batted lead off. Lees won 22 games with a 1.92 ERA and 231 strikeouts. Lees only allowed three runs during their two game sweep over Aledo in the area championship.

JASMYN LLOYD, JUNIOR, SOUTH GRAND PRAIRIE: The 8-6A Offensive MVP helped the Warriors to a district title and regional quarterfinal berth. She batted 0.418 with 38 hits and 38 runs, and led the team with 53 RBI, 9 doubles, 4 triples and 10 home runs. She had 28 assists from shortstop and turned 4 double plays.

CARLY HOLMAN, SOPHOMORE, PLANO JOHN PAUL II: Holman pitched and picked up both wins at the TAPPS state tournament to help the Cardinals to the championship. She was also named to the all-tournament team. Holman batted 0.480 with 9 home runs, 12 doubles and 28 RBI. She posted a 9-0 record with a 1.29 ERA and 151 strikeouts.

MYA CHERRY, SOPHOMORE, AUBREY: After helping Aubrey to state for the first time since 2007 and pitching in the state semifinals, Cherry was voted 11-4A Pitcher of the Year. She finished the season with a 17-3 record, 1.67 ERA, 161 strikeouts, two no-hitters and one perfect game.
