Southlake Carroll’s Kennedy Fuller named 2022-23 Gatorade National Girls Soccer Player of the Year

After a record breaking season and just days after she was named the best player in Texas, Southlake Carroll midfielder Kennedy Fuller was surprised with the Gatorade National Girls Soccer player of the year award on Thursday.

Fuller, who’s a North Carolina commit, shares the award with Mallory Swanson from Chicago.

Fuller was named the best player in the state by Gatorade for the second straight season. As a freshman in 2022, Fuller scored 26 goals and added 15 assists, helping the Dragons to the Class 6A state championship.

Fuller scored three goals in the title game, a 4-0 win over Rockwall, and was voted state champ MVP. She continued her success at the club and national scenes, winning multiple high level tournaments and gold medals with Team USA.

After committing to UNC last summer, Fuller entered the 2022-23 school year as a junior following her reclassification to 2024.

Fuller entered this season even better and stronger.

She finished with 55 goals and 136 points, both school single season records. She chipped in 26 assists, second most all time and posted 11 hat tricks.

Fuller played in 24 games, missing six contests due to national camp and USA obligations. She missed the last three playoff games as she won a gold medal and was named tournament MVP in France.

Carroll started 29-0 and finished 29-1 following a 1-0 loss to Marcus in the Class 6A Region 1 final.

Fuller was voted 6A all state and District 4-6A MVP for a second straight season.

In just two years, Fuller ranks third all time at Carroll with 81 career goals, seventh in assists (41), fourth in points (203) and seventh in game winners (14).
