Prosper volleyball state champion headed to Virginia

Ciera “Cici” Hecht, who helped the Prosper Eagles to the Class 5A volleyball state championship in 2017, is headed east.

After graduating from Texas A&M, she is going to use her final year with the Virginia Cavaliers.

Hecht saw limited action as a true freshman with the Aggies in 2019, but then played in 176 sets during her final three years. She increased her kills total during her last three years going from 50 kills to 60 to 84 last season.

She had a career high 156 digs in 2021.

The Aggies went 23-8 in 2019 when Hecht was a freshman, but struggled the past two seasons (14-14 in 2021 and 13-15 in 2022).

During her time at Prosper, Hecht was one of the top players in the metroplex. She was a two time all state selection and district defensive MVP as a sophomore. She was a 2018 all american honorable mention selection as a senior.

As a junior with Prosper, Hecht had 415 kills in 115 sets and hit 0.308. She also had 51 aces and 376 digs. She had 368 digs and 419 kills as a senior.

Prosper beat Leander Rouse in the 2017 5A final 25-18, 21-25, 18-25, 25-23, 16-14 and finished with a 46-6 record. Hecht had 13 kills and 16 digs.
