Gonzaga, DFW basketball star signs with the Milwaukee Bucks

After going undrafted at the NBA Draft, former Richardson Pearce power forward Drew Timme signed to an Exhibit 10 contract with the Milwaukee Bucks on Friday. Timme will join the Bucks summer league roster.

Timme, who stands 6-foot-10, averaged over 17 points on 62% shooting in his incredible four-year career at Gonzaga. He also averaged 6.7 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game.

A two-time Conference Player of the Year, Timme was also a finalist for both the Wooden Award and Naismith Trophy during his senior season.

Timme holds the record for career points in Gonzaga program history with 2,307. He also had 301 points in the NCAA tournament, which ranked sixth all time.

According to USA Today, the Bucks could use Timme for the upcoming season and his height. Center Brook Lopez is about to become an unrestricted free agent and forward Khris Middleton declined his player option.

Gonzaga went 31-6 last season and won the conference tourney title for the fourth straight season and 10th in 11 years, and 21st overall. The team went four rounds deep before losing to UConn 82-54.

Gonzaga reached the NCAA championship in 2021 but lost to Baylor 86-70.

In 37 games last season as a senior, Timme averaged a career high 21.2 points and 7.5 rebounds, and scored a career best 786 points. During his sophomore year when Gonzaga went to the NCAA final, he shot a career best 65.5% from the field.

At Pearce, Timme was a 5-star forward and No. 41 in the Class of 2019 rankings. He was a McDonald’s All American nominee and won District MVP. He averaged a double double with 17.8 points and 10 rebounds.
