Gosset’s high school commits of the week (5/7)

Colleyville Heritage’s Sammon Johnson and Southlake Carroll’s Maddy Pensom are the latest high school commits of the week.

Johnson, who shined on the basketball court for the Panthers committed to Tyler Junior College on May 1. Johnson was one of the top scorers in the metroplex this season.

He was voted District 7-5A Offensive MVP after averaging 18 points, 3 rebounds and 3 assists per game while shooting more than 40 percent from the 3-point line.

The Panthers went 22-10 and 9-5 in district with a playoff berth.

Pensom, a senior midfielder for the Dragons, announced her commitment to play soccer at LA Tech on May 5. Pensom helped Carroll to a 29-1 record, regional final berth and a undefeated regular season.

Pensom played in 47 games with eight starts during the past three seasons.

She played in 13 games this season and had three goals and three assists on nine shots.
