Chendall Weaver, who starred for the Timberview Wolves, has transferred to the University of Texas.
Weaver, a 6-3 guard, helped the Wolves to the Class 5A state championship game in 2022. He finished the season with 17 points and 8 rebounds per game and was named all-state and state all-tournament team. He was District 8-5A MVP and went on to average a double-double in two state tournament games.
Weaver scored 28 points in the Class 5A Region 1 final against Amarillo and had 22 points and 11 rebounds in the state semifinals against Boerne Champion. Timberview ended 36-5 after a 62-57 defeat against Beaumont United.
Weaver signed his letter of intent with UT-Arlington and put together a strong freshman campaign.
He was voted conference freshman of the year after averaging 9.5 points, 4.6 rebounds and 2 assists per game. He averaged 29.5 minutes in 32 games played with 25 starts. Weaver hit 100 field goals and 33 3-pointers while averaging 40.2 percent from downtown. He shot 70.3 percent from the line.
His season highs included 21 points against Sam Houston State, 10 rebounds against San Fran and 6 assists against UTRGV. Weaver’s sister is Chennedy Carter, a former Texas A&M All-American and a former fourth overall pick to the Atlanta Dream.
UT went 29-9 this season and 12-6 in the Big 12.
The Longhorns won the Big 12 tournament and went to the Elite Eight.
