Top-ranked TCU beach volleyball extends streak on senior day

The No. 1 nationally ranked TCU beach volleyball team extended its streak to nine straight sweeps with four 5-0 wins at home over the weekend against Florida Gulf Coast, Texas A&M Corpus Christi, UTEP and Houston Christian.

The four wins improved the Frogs record to 28-0 this season.

TCU finished off a perfect home record at 12-0, its third consecutive undefeated home season and extends its home win streak to 40 matches, which dates back to March 2020.

Program records that also fell included the nine straight sweeps, three 5-0 weekends and sweeps in a single season (22). TCU also honored three seniors on Saturday, Hailey Brockett, Kate Privett and Rochelle Scott.

Three players from Southlake Carroll helped in the win over Houston Christian, Sutton MacTavish, Privett and Keagan Polk. MacTavish and Privett paired up on Court 2 and won 21-15, 16-21, 15-12 while Polk paired up with Hailey Hamlett on Court 4 and won 21-14, 21-14. Polk won on Court 6 (exhibition) against UTEP while Privett and Dallas Wilson grad Tara Patton won on Court 2 (21-17, 21-12). MacTavish and Ana Vergara won on Court 3 (21-10, 21-18).

Patton and Privett defeated Corpus-Christi on Friday 21-17, 15-21, 15-10 while MacTavish and Vergara won 21-13, 21-19. Polk and Hamlett won on Court 4 (21-9, 21-16). MacTavish and Vergara beat FGCU on Court 2 (21-17, 21-14) while Privett and Anhelina Khmi won on Court 3 (22-20, 21-14). Polk and Hamlett won on Court 5 (21-10, 21-7).

Polk was one of the best indoor volleyball players at Carroll, playing libero. She was a multiple all-area defensive player of the year, district defensive player of the year and all-state selection.

The Frogs will next travel to California to face Cal Poly, No. 4 UCLA and No. 18 Pepperdine on April 14 and 15.
