GIRLS
Anna 3, Sunnyvale 2 OT: The Coyotes won a Class 4A Region 2 quarterfinal and advance to the regional tourney for the first time. Ella Anderson, Isabelle Lopez and Paisly Martin scored for Anna.
FM Marcus 2, Allen 1: The Marauders defeated the Eagles in a Class 6A Region 1 quarterfinal at McKinney ISD Stadium. The two teams came in with a combined record of 43-2-3. Allen nearly scored in the 25th minute when Sam Sheffield sent a cross to Sutton Markee who hit the crossbar. Marcus was able to score in the 31st minute on a goal from Bella Campos. Less than a minute later, Campos converted a cross from Caroline Castans for a 2-0 lead. Allen pulled within 2-1 in the 55th minute on a Markee header. Marcus (22-1-1) is headed to the regional tourney for the third straight year.
Southlake Carroll 2, Permian 0: The Dragons improved to 28-0 on the season with two first-half goals in a Class 6A Region 1 quarterfinal in Abilene. Maddie Khan hit a cross and Kamdyn Fuller scored in the 13th minute. Ava Olson made it 2-0 in the 25th minute when she took a pass in traffic and booted a one timer that went just under the top post. Olivia Geller picked up another shutout in net.
McKinney North 4, Hallsville 1: The Bulldogs are off to the regional tourney for the first time since 2006 after winning a Class 5A Region 2 quarterfinal. North got goals from Kat Geiser, Raeleigh Pope, Katarina Soto and Danica Anaya.
McKinney Boyd 1, Prosper 0: The Broncos scored with 16 seconds left in the first half and held off the Eagles to advance to the regional tournament for the first time since 2011.
Frisco Reedy 1, Frisco Wakeland 1 (Reedy wins SO 4-2): The Lions knocked off the defending Class 5A state champs in a shootout and clinches a spot at the regional tournament for the first time. Reedy had lost both district games against Wakeland this season.
Celina 4, Mabank 1: The defending Class 4A state champs advance to the regional tourney behind goals from Lexi Tulte (2), Madi Vana and Grace Pritchard.
Frisco 1, Dallas Wilson 0: The Raccoons beat the Wildcats in a Class 5A Region 2 quarterfinal. Frisco moves on to the regional tournament for the second straight season.
Grapevine 3, Midlothian 2 OT: Theresa McCullough found Emma Johnson in the extra frame and the Mustangs beat the Panthers in a Class 5A Region 1 quarterfinal at Coppell. Cecilia Cerone made a save on a Midlothian free kick with 2:15 left in the match. McCullough, a Baylor signee, scored both goals in regulation for Grapevine. Her second tied the match after the Panthers led 2-1.
Forney 2, Lovejoy 0: Kaitlyn Johnson and Kloe Brown scored for the Jackrabbits to send Forney to the regional tourney for the second time in three seasons.
WF Rider 1, Midlothian Heritage 0: The Raiders scored with just over four minutes left in regulation to advance past the Jaguars in a Class 5A Region 1 quarterfinal at Midlothian ISD Stadium. The goal came on a throw in that bounced into the net. The Jaguars out played Rider for most of the match, but just couldn’t find a goal. Maddie Jordan had a nice pass to Jules Burrows in the 69th minute, but the Rider keeper made the stop. Jordan had a shot on goal that hit the left post in the 46th minute. Tanner Sorenson played well in net for Heritage.
Byron Nelson 1, Keller 0: The Bobcats got a goal from Sophia Moore in the 64th minute and advance to the regional tourney for the first time since 2014.
Wylie East 1, Rockwall 0 OT: Brooke Shields scored the game winning goal to send the Raiders to their first regional tournament since 2015. East improved to 26-0 this season and knock off Rockwall, last year’s Class 6A state runner up.
Mansfield 2, Waco Midway 0: Ava Harris and Cameron Byrd scored goals for the Tigers, who advance to the regional tournament for the third straight year.
